1.11 Jesus Instruct His Followers to “Offer the Gift that Moses Commanded”

To further show that Jesus teachings did not abolish the Law, the Gospel adds Jesus instruction to a leper to show himself to the priest, and “offer the gift that Moses commanded”:

“Large crowds followed Jesus as he came down the mountainside. Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached Jesus. He knelt before him, worshipping. “Lord”, the man said, “If you want to, you can make me well again.” Jesus touched him. “I want to”, he said, “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared. Then Jesus said to him, “Go right over to the priest and let him examine you. Don't talk to anyone along the way. Take along the offering required in the Law of Moses for those who have been healed of leprosy, so everyone will have proof of your healing.” (Matthew 8:1-4, NLT)

If the only requirement for Salvation is Faith, we may indeed wonder, why then did Jesus spend all his good life preaching what to do and what not to do [for example offered the gift that Moses commanded] in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven? And why did he says that:

“But I warn you—unless you obey God better than the teachers of the religious law and the Pharisees do, you can’t enter the Kingdom of Heaven at all!” (Matthew 5:20, NLT)
