JESUS NEVER CLAIMED TO BE GOD
“The Jews of his day (meaning Jesus) didn’t have any concept of the Trinity. They only knew of God the Father -- whom they called Yahweh -- and not God the Son or God the Holy Spirit.” Ben Witherington, a renowned Christian Scholar[1] “The New Testament says that Jesus (peace be upon him) went around preaching “the Gospels”…Based on this fact, Christians should be able to completely derived their doctrines and “Gospels message” from the words Jesus as reported in the New Testament. However, everyone who has taken a look at the evidence should be able to conclude that Christians certainly cannot do this – they have to appeal to the Epistles of Paul and to an innovated Trinitarian vocabulary. So what was this “Gospel” that Jesus was preaching? Was it clearly the “Divine Incarnation?” “The Atonement and the Trinity?” I certainly feel that the longest and most eloquent Sermon in the New Testament (Matthew 5:7), commonly known as “The Sermon on the Mount” lends support to the pure Monotheism of Islam, not to Trinitarian Christian belief.”
